Pope John Paul II Award Pilgrimage to Rome
This year, the Pope John Paul II Award is celebrating its 10th anniversary. To mark this special occasion and to celebrate the achievements of over 25,000 young people in Ireland and Britain who have received the Award, a special pilgrimage to the Vatican in Rome took place during October mid-term.
11 dioceses took part on this 4-day pilgrimage which included 18 representatives from Kildare & Leighlin. The group, led by Patricia O’Neill, was made up of Award Leaders and adult Award recipients.
Niamh Cahill from Mountrath parish had the privilege of volunteering with Comunitá di Sant’Egidio night service while the other pilgrims from Clane, Graiguecullen/Killeshin, Tullow and Newbridge parishes participated in the prayer services organised by Derry Diocese.
