The foundation stone of Holy Cross Church, Killeshin was laid on 6th May 1819 and the church was consecrated on 5th May 1822 by the then Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin, Dr James Doyle, also known as JK L (James Kildare and Leighlin).

The foundation stone of St Clare’s Church was laid, on June 7th, 1928, the feast of Corpus Christi, and the church was opened and dedicated by Most Rev Dr Cullen on Sunday, 13 October, 1929.
