Funeral attendance information amended 08 Aug 2020.
In order to comply with latest measures from Government and Department of Health officials we are required to suspend all public Masses and gatherings in the Kildare, Laois and Offaly part of our diocese for a period of two weeks from midnight tonight Friday August 7th.
Attendance at a funeral service and burial or cremation ceremony should be limited to 25. Where the deceased is being waked either in a funeral home or in a private home there can be no more than 6 indoors from no more than 3 households.
Places of worship remain open for private prayer, while Masses are to be held online.
I know this is very difficult news particularly for the 38 parishes of Kildare & Leighlin affected in this two week shutdown. I am also aware that Confirmations, First Communions, Baptisms, Marriages will have to be rescheduled once again. The measures around funerals announced this evening will have to be strictly adhered to in order to ease the spread of the virus.
Parishioners living in the counties affected are asked to very much abide by these measures so as to protect their own health and the health of all others particularly the vulnerable.
We will remember each other in prayer.
