Making a Pilgrimage to a Holy Door in the diocese
These Summer months offer an excellent opportunity in the Year of Mercy for individuals or groups to make a pilgrimage to one of the designated Holy Doors in the diocese. Pilgrims might like to follow the route taken by Bishop Denis and others on the day each door was opened or devise a route of their own. A prayer leaflet for use on the pilgrimage can be downloaded here.
The Holy Doors and the routes to them are as follows:
Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow, beginning by the icon of St Fiacc, St Clare’s church, Graiguecullen.
Church of St Brigid, Kildare Town, beginning at St Brigid’s Well, Kildare.
Church of St Fintan, Mountrath, beginning at St Fintan’s, Clonenagh.
All pilgrims are asked to take care on the roads.
We look forward to the opening of the Holy Door in Duiske Abbey, Graiguenamanagh on September 11.
