In 2014 Pope Francis launched a prayer action called “24 Hours for the Lord” to encourage people to return to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The hope was that the action would be replicated all over the world and that at least one church in each diocese would remain open for the full 24 hours to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation to those who wished to celebrate it.
This year it is taking place in three parishes across the Diocese – Portlaoise, Carbury and Tullow. It takes place for a 24 hour period between Friday 24th March and Saturday 25th March.
