Time to refocus? Final Months of Year of Mercy

As we enter into the final months of the Jubilee year this is a good time to refocus ourselves on its potential for allowing God’s mercy into each of our lives anew and to continue this on beyond the Year of Mercy.

Doors of Mercy Open for You

There are four Holy Doors of Mercy in our diocese in this Jubilee Year. They are at the Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow, St Brigid’s Church, Kildare Town, St Fintan’s Church, Mountrath and Duiske Abbey in Graignamanagh parish.

If you haven’t yet made a Holy Door pilgrimage maybe now is the time to give it a go. You are invited to make a pilgrimage to any or all of these doors, welcoming God’s mercy into your life as you cross over the threshold. Your pilgrim journey can start from a place of your choosing or from the designated starting point linked to each door.  Click on this link to find a prayer to accompany the pilgrimage, the prayer will also be in the church.

In the weeks ahead you might also remember to pray the Jubilee Prayer during Mass. If you are a member of your local parish choirs you could encourage the singing of the Jubilee hymn when appropriate.

Could a parish holy hour be organised for the grace of the year of Mercy to be felt by as many as possible in our parishes?

In these closing months of the Jubilee Year of Mercy can we keep the spirit of this Jubilee year alive?

What can you do? There are many groups working in our parishes to help those who need it, can you give a little of your time, support them financially, help them to promote their works to gain more support, teach your children to be mindful of others less fortunate than them.
